BELL opera workshop 

A workshop presentation of my new opera (with composer Richard Einhorn) about Alexander Graham Bell, exploring his relationship with the Deaf community and featuring ASL, will be at Skidmore this spring. Featuring The Musicians of Maalwick.


The Elizabethan thriller, which I adapted together with playwright Jeffrey Hatcher, takes the stage this spring at the Lucille Lortel Off-Broadway with Red Bull Theater. The production, directed by Jesse Berger, runs through April 1- hope you can join us!

My new play, written for my students at SUNY Albany, is appearing on stage there in October. It's set in a haunted theater, today and 50 years ago.

Audrey Residency 

I've begun a year-long Audrey Residency at New Georges theater company, to develop my newest play, MARY SHELLEY & THE CREATURE.

An Opera for Young People

JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, created with composer Gregory Spears, for Chicago Lyric Opera's Lyric Unlimited. The piece was performed this fall in neighborhoods across Chicago, for over 20,000 young people.


My newest work Southern Haunt, a spooky-sexy Southern gothic play set in Savannah, appears in December as part of the Threshold New Play Festival at Actor's Express in Atlanta.

Playwrights' Center Core Writer

I've been named a Core Writer of the Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis, for a three-year fellowship.

SEE BAT FLY: on The List & On Stage in Providence


The Kilroys have published their first annual edition of The List, and my play SEE BAT FLY has been named one of the top 46 most recommended plays by women. More info here.


The play will appear in a workshop production in summer 2014 at Brown/Trinity Playwrights Rep. Come see it July 9-12 and Aug 1-2!

PAUL'S CASE productions

The chamber opera PAUL'S CASE (co-librettist with composer Gregory Spears), is appearing at the PROTOTYPE Festival at HERE Arts Center in New York in January 2014 (reviewed in the NY Times) and at Pittsburgh Opera in February.



Ovation Award Nomination

I've been nominated for an LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award for Playwriting, for my play CREATION, which premiered last fall, directed by Michael Michetti, at The Theatre @ Boston Court in Pasedena (see photo). The Ovation Awards are LA-area's only peer-judged theater awards, with over 400 productions judged by a pool of 250 voters.

Residency in Italy

This spring I was an Affiliated Fellow at the American Academy in Rome, on a fellowship from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), researching LOVERS & PLAYERS, a commedia dell'arte play to be developed and produced with my amazing students at SCAD.
